The National Society of Black Engineers Organization:

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 1975, NSBE now includes more than 394 College, Pre-College, and Technical Professional/Alumni chapters in the United States and abroad.

 

 

The NSBE Mission:

"To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who

excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."​

 

The National Society of Black Engineers Syracuse City School District Chapter: 

The SCSD NSBE Jr. Chapter was founded in 2000 at George W. Fowler High School by 6 chartering members. Since that time, the SCSD NSBE Jr. Chapter has grown to include over 100 student participants district wide. Students are able to participate in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) enrichment.​SCSD NSBE Jr. Chapter members are able to compete in Math, Science, and Robotics competitions at the Regional and National level.

 

Students are also able to receive tutorial and mentoring from the Syracuse University NSBE Collegiate Chapter members. The chapter is overseen by a group of advisors that consists of teachers and administrators throughout the Syracuse City School District. ​
